Floating Sauna Development Proposal for Yarralumla Bay. Comments close 23/08/2024
The National Capital Authority (NCA) has received a works approval application for the construction of two floating saunas on one pontoon and a gangway on land at Yarralumla Beach East on Lake Burley Griffin (Alexandrina Drive Yarralumla). The NCA is seeking public comment on the proposed location, design, and materials to be used in the construction of the saunas.

YRA has applied to the Federal Healthy Waterways Program for a grant to start developing the Yarralumla Wetlands envisaged in NCA’s Yarralumla Bay Master Plan.

Decision made on National Capital Plan Amendment 97 - Block 7 Section 4 Yarralumla - Former CSIRO Forestry Site
On 27 March 2024 the YRA was advised by the National Capital Authority that the National Capital Plan Amendment No. 97 – Block 7 Section 4 Yarralumla (former Australian Forestry School) had been approved by the Commonwealth Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories (The Hon Kristy McBain) and registered on 20 March 2024.

Canberra Brickworks Development Applications for Public Comment and YRA Submissions
YRA has now completed two further submissions on DAs associated with Precinct 1 and Precinct 3 of the Brickworks development. There are currently four Development Applications associated with the Brickworks development. The YRA lodged submissions on the first two of these on 7 December. Read YRA Submission to NCA on National Capital Plan DA 97 - Block 7 Section 4 Yarralumla
Attached is the YRA's submission to the NCA on Draft Amendment 97 to the National Capital Plan. DA 97 seeks to change the land use policy of the former Australian Forestry School site from Community Facility to a mixed-use zoning allowing residential, aged care, commercial accommodation, community facility and ancillary commercial uses. Public consultation closes Friday 22 December. 2023.
