Seminar on 21st century public transport options for Canberra, 8 May 2023

This seminar will provide information on options for Canberra’s public transport system. The aim of the meeting is to provide up to date information on recently developed approaches to delivering efficient, cost-effective public transport solutions that could be used in Canberra.

The meeting will feature three speakers:

  • Kent Fitch on driverless cars
  • Leon Arundell on electric buses
  • Alex Paton on trackless trams

The highlight is expected to be the trackless trams presentation. Alex Paton is from the private sector and the company he works for Infrastructure Technology Solutions Group, is involved in the installation of these systems in Australia. Leon Arundell is a member of the North Canberra Community Council, founder of Living Streets and a member of the ACT Region Conservation Council. Kent Fitch has 40 years’ experience in database and systems software.

    8 May 2023 at 7.30pm at the Canberra College Theatre, Phillip. 
  • Attendance is by invitation only (fire regulations limit the numbers that can be accommodated)

The meeting is jointly sponsored by the Deakin Residents Association and the Yarralumla Residents Association. It is being organised by John Bell and Anthony Senti  (John is President of the DRA).
