Forestry Place (Australian Forestry School Precinct Banks Street - Section 119 Block 7 and Forestry Oval -Section 119 Block 4)

Stewart Architecture held an onsite information session on 9 May and around 100 people attended. They have also provided a detailed kit of the Master Plan which is available at the link below. This Master Plan will be lodged with the National Capital Authority (NCA) in the near future and be subject to public consultation.

Redevelopment of 33 Hutchins Street and 39 Bentham Street

Adjacent to Yarralumla shops, prior to 2012 the original cottages on this site were heritage listed. They were built in the 1920’s as housing for workers at the Canberra Brickworks and Nursery. Unfortunately, these dwellings have been lost. The site became inactive in 2012 when work under the previous DA was stopped by the ACT Government as approval had lapsed. The new DA for the site DA202036734, lodged on 5 August 2020, has been granted several extensions. The current extension expires on 9 September 2026.

Minimbah Court - Banks Street Social Housing - Fact Sheet

The Minimbah Court 1950’s social housing complex at Solander Place, Banks Street, is being redeveloped from 12 units to 30 units. Residents wished to provide input to inform a good outcome prior to the plans being submitted but this was precluded and thus the only avenue available was ACAT. Recent media suggests that residents’ ACAT appeal resulted in a major delay to the project of 2 years. This is not correct. The timeline for this site from 2020 when tenants were moved out through to May 2026 is detailed in the attached Fact Sheet.

North Curtin Residential Area Development - YRA Submission

The North Curtin Residential Area development in the Curtin Horse Paddocks is the first major infill development under the ACT Governments Southern Gateway Corridor urban intensification project. The focus of the Southern Gateway Corridor is urban infill through densification of the Light Rail Stage 2B (LRS2B) route along Yarra Glen and Adelaide Avenue.

Community feedback heard - Traction Power Station moved from Guilfoyle St to Denison St

The ACT Government proposed to build a Traction Power Substation (TPS8) at the intersection of Gunn and Guilfoyle Streets, in Yarralumla, Following concerted lobbying by the YRA, local residents and support from Fiona Carrick MLA and Shane Rattenbury MLA the ACT Government has agreed to move the Traction Power Substation to Denison Street in Deakin rather than the original proposal at Gunn Street Yarralumla.

Submission to Inquiry into Financial Management and Government Procurement Legislative Compliance

The YRA lodged a submission to this inquiry. YRA's submission focuses on the governance issues that affect the transparency and visibility of costs, procurement decisions, and financial exposure across major infrastructure programs. The legislative framework requires that: value for money is demonstrated; procurement processes are transparent and justified; and fiscal risks clearly identified and disclosed.

Stewart Architecture have been engaged to prepare a master plan and submit Works Application for redevelopment of the site. They are running a drop-in information session on site. This is your opportunity to talk to the architects about the proposed plan for this site.

Southern Gateway Corridor - North Curtin Residential Area - Updated 13/5/26

This North Curtin Residential Area development in the Curtin Horse Paddocks and is the first cab off the rank of the ACT Governments Southern Gateway Corridor urban intensification project. The Southern Gateway Corridor which incorporates the Inner South and Woden Districts identifies areas of Yarralumla for infill that are considered “underutilised.”

BLOC Office Redevelopment - YRA submission lodged on Amended DA

YRA has lodged a submission on the Amended DA for "significant development for demolition of existing building, construction of a new 5 storey mixed-use development and associated communal facilities, basement carparking, tree removal, landscaping and associated works." A copy of the YRA submission is attached. The YRA is interested in your views and encourages residents to also make a submission.
