As part of the Canberra and Region Heritage Festival for 2021, YRA organised a short walk around Yarralumla to highlight the many heritage features found locally. The walk commenced at one of the recently restored street signs and one of our heritage pocket parks, before moving on to the art deco 1927 Forestry School and the 1951 Forestry House, the old student accommodation building. The walk continued around the Early Canberra Brickworks Housing Precinct, including a number of mainly unaltered 1920s workers’ cottages, and finished at the second restored street sign.
The walk was a great success with over 70 participants from throughout Canberra and the region who enjoyed the informative and entertaining presentations from the tour guides.
